#8 Daniel Bryan (Champion) vs AJ Styles for the WWE Championship
Rating: 3.75*
This match was extremely well wrestled as expected. It was a great wrestling match in the traditional sense of a wrestling match. Daniel and AJ, being two of the best technical wrestlers on the planet put up what seemed to be an excellent match wrestled by calling spots instead of being an intricately planned one.
We got to witness some rare wrestling maneuvers such as a dragon suplex, a double under-hook slam and lots more. AJ's nose started bleeding early in the match, and Bryan masterfully included this into the story of the match by holding his nose as well while applying the LeBell Lock.
Despite all this, it had a very lame finish. Rowan came out in street clothes, shedding his Bludgeon gimmick, and went on to interfere after the referee got knocked out by hitting Styles with a move resembling the choke slam, which allowed Daniel to pin him and retain. The finish did not eat up the match entirely but did sabotage it to a considerable degree.
