Smackdown Live needs main event talent

Ever since Smackdown Live became WWE's "B show", a majority of wrestling aficionados have come to believe that Vince McMahon secretly hates the blue brand, and while that theory might sound ludicrous, the 2017 Superstar Shake up might support that argument.

The creative team decided to extract the best parts of Smackdown Live, who at the time were The Miz, Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose, and sent them to Raw only to be wasted for the first few months on the red brand.

Therefore, WWE needs to balance out their rosters correctly to ensure the blue brand rises once again to become a household name in wrestling as it was in 2016, and the best way to achieve that is to send some of Raw's biggest stars and underutilized main event talent over to Smackdown Live.

#1 - Jeff Hardy

Hardy can become the top guy again on Smackdown Live.

There was a time when Jeff Hardy was the most popular superstar in the entirety of WWE, as he was selling boatloads of merchandise, connecting naturally with the WWE Universe, and delivering classics performances in the ring. However, Hardy's time on the top of Vince McMahon's mountain was cut short when he left the company back in 2009.

Therefore, when 'The Charismatic Enigma' made his return shocking return to the company back in 2017, fans could not wait until Jeff was positioned as the top babyface in WWE once again. WWE can achieve that feat once again by placing Jeff on the brand where he rose to prominence previously, and that is Smackdown Live.

Hardy back on the blue brand is a breath of fresh air to the show, as his status as a veteran will most certainly be utilized better than Randy Orton or Shelton Benjamin, and not forgetting the countless dream matches awaiting him with the likes of AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and Daniel Bryan.

#2 - Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns moving to the blue brand could push his career that much further.

Roman Reigns on any other brand besides the flagship show might seem unlikely; Raw is the premier brand in WWE that houses the company’s biggest stars, and Roman Reigns is the most prominent star in the company at the moment. Also, Reigns's current booking plans suggest that he is staying on Raw; however, WWE could once again swerve their fanbase and send 'The Big Dog' to Smackdown Live.

This decision will not only allow Reigns to step into a fresh environment, it will allow his character to breathe and develop, as that what he needs at this point in his career. Furthermore, matches with AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and more NXT call-ups will only allow Reigns to help Smackdown Live reach levels of importance it currently doesn’t have in the company.

#3 - Dean Ambrose

Ambrose is "the guy", and it's about time WWE understood that.

There is one thing WWE can expect from Dean Ambrose's return, and that's a thunderous ovation. 'The Lunatic Fringe' has all the momentum, hype and anticipation to commence the hottest run of his career, and WWE can't waste that by shoving him in the midcard on Monday nights.

Instead, Smackdown Live is missing another world class heel, and Ambrose is the perfect wrestler to fit that role. Ambrose on Smackdown Live is a good thing as he can craft, perfect and define his persona, as feuds with AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan and even a freshly drafted Seth Rollins can allow Ambrose to gain momentum to start a hot streak.

WWE had a golden opportunity to make Ambrose a top guy back in 2014 when The Shield split up, but they did not capitalize on that chance. Therefore, this time around they can't make the same mistake twice.

#4 - Finn Balor

Balor has to build himself up as the main event talent he is once again.

Finn Balor may be an ‘over’ babyface, but there is no denying that his character has become stale and a bit uninteresting, and being uninteresting in a world where audiences need to invest in the characters is a dangerous booking strategy.

WWE is partly responsible for this state of Balor’s character, as his stop-start booking has derailed his once unstoppable main roster career. Thus, the only way forward is to send him to Smackdown Live where the best work of his WWE career awaits him.

Potential storylines against AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and Daniel Bryan are main event feuds that could headline any pay-per-view. Therefore, WWE needs to send Balor over to the blue brand to rejuvenate his career with these matches that will turn him into the hottest star in the company once again.

#5 - The Miz

The match every wrestling fan wants to see.

In a world of one-dimensional babyfaces and heels, The Miz stands out as one of the most complete characters in the entire company, whose motivations, promos, matches and even commentary all relate to the narrative he is trying to tell. With The Miz losing the Intercontinental Title to Seth Rollins at WrestleMania, there is only one direction for him to go, and that is to the blue brand.

Smackdown Live is only rejuvenated today due to the efforts of superstars like AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose and the Miz; returning to the brand that he helped build which in turn, helped redefined his career, will be a smart booking decision. The main reason every wrestling fan wants The Miz to step back into the land of opportunity is to face the man he has a storied history with and that is Daniel Bryan.

Daniel Bryan vs The Miz has the potential to become feud of the year. While some may argue that the narrative behind this feud and the intense promos will overshadow the wrestling, these two can put on a five-star match with each other, and it could be the feud that makes Smackdown Live into the A-show once again.
