The Fabulous Moolah - Reigned as Champion for 28 years

The Fabulous Moolah won the NWA Women's Championship in a Battle Royal on September 18, 1956.

Incredibly, the title would change ownership twice and 28 years would pass before the belt was wrested from Moolah's waist.

A fierce politician, Moolah dominated Women's wrestling for close to four decades, refusing to relinquish her spot at the top and making as much money as some of her male colleagues in an era where Women's wrestling was deemed to be a sideshow attraction and was not dealt the respect it possesses today.

The 64 year old Moolah was finally willing to step away from the spotlight in 1987 and dropped the belt to her protegee, Sherri Martel.

Moolah was far from finished though and at 76 years of age, she defeated Women's Champion, Ivory in October 1999 to win her final Women's Title.
