The road to WrestleMania continued last night as a few things cleared up. Ronda Rousey's match became official and the mess that is the Raw tag team division continued its status quo.
Who benefited from last night's developments and who lost out?
Winner: Ronda Rousey
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Ronda Rousey is still on shaky ground when it comes to her mic work. Again, it was difficult to watch. Giving her a mouthpiece is far preferable to what's gone on so far.
But...she did get a decent reaction from fans and managed to attack Stephanie this week, even if the attack looked awkward. That's what's most important for now.
Ronda Rousey really should turn heel after WrestleMania is over.
Winners: Asuka and Nia Jax
Sure, Asuka won again last night, this time more decisively than at her Elimination Chamber match, but she was still fighting from underneath. Nia Jax looked like a powerhouse and is clearly being protected.
Asuka eventually forced her to tap with a submission hold, showing that she can end a match at any time. Nia didn't leave unscathed, as she was hurting and needed to be consoled backstage.
Losers: The Revival
The Revival got a match with the Raw Tag Team Champions with the stipulation that if they won, they'd get a title shot at WrestleMania. They went on to lose.
At best, it means they'll be part of a multi-team match at the big show. At worst, it means they'll be off the card altogether.
Loser: John Cena
John Cena appearing on Raw despite competing at the next SmackDown pay-per-view felt very much like an emergency way to boost ratings. He continues to keep everyone guessing what his WrestleMania fate may be. Then, Goldust interrupted.
The fact that John Cena fought underneath for part of the match felt very incongruent. Goldust shouldn't be a threat to Cena at all. It was a waste of time.
Winner: Bayley
Bayley has become relevant again for the first time in a long while. After defeating Mandy Rose, her troubles with Sasha Banks continued. A WrestleMania match between the two of them is likely.
It's a year late, but it's at least heated up two of the best talents in the division, who have cooled off so much from their highs.
Loser: Braun Strowman
As usual, Braun Strowman and Elias took part in the most entertaining segment of Raw. Despite how great this was, though, we still have no clue what the Monster Among Men is going to do at WrestleMania. Is Elias really the best he can do? Such a match, great as this mini-feud has been, just feels beneath him after the year he's had.
Winners: Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy
This feud has already overstayed its welcome. Something drastic was needed to keep this feud afloat and we got that last night.
The two will clash at the Hardy Compound, a clear homage to the Broken Universe from TNA.
This is a high-stakes situation. Comparisons to last year's House of Horrors match, which many consider the year's worst, are inevitable. WWE will have to put great effort into it to get this right.
But for now, at least they've done something novel with these two, who have been feuding for no reason.
Winners: The Miz, Seth Rollins, and Finn Balor
Leave it to these three to be among the most entertaining parts of Raw. The Mizzies was a good promo, followed by a good handicap match. It looks to have solidified the emerging triple threat match between these three at WrestleMania, which should easily be one of the night's best.
Loser: The WrestleMania main event
Paul Heyman's promos have become repetitive and this one was only a slight variation on what we've heard so many times before. Meanwhile, Roman Reigns came off his high from last week, and his speech was awkward.
Roman getting in Paul Heyman's face felt awkward as well. Far better would it have been to just spear him and declare he awaited his client next week.
Thus far, a lot of work needs to be done to excite fans for this match, which no one really wanted to begin with.
