WWE has four or five tentpole events each year. The most notable is WrestleMania, but the other "big five" include the Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series. The company bases much of its programming around these shows.
Of those five events, the three biggest are the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and SummerSlam. The latter is set to take place this Saturday live from Cleveland Browns Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Around 50,000 fans are expected to be in attendance.
These big tentpole events often feature moments that shake things up moving forward. In many cases, this can be alignment changes but it can also be shaking up the roster and where certain stars are signed up to.
SummerSlam weekend and the subsequent weeks could see several performers switch brands. This article will take a look at a handful of possible moves that could take place at or after the big event, which includes Bloodline-related drama, a world title chase, and even a move to the NXT brand.
Below are four brand switches that could happen at WWE SummerSlam 2024.
#4. Giovanni Vinci could move back to RAW to get revenge on Imperium
Giovanni Vinci is an extremely talented performer, who is both powerful and athletic. For most of his run in WWE, he has been a member of Imperium. He served alongside Ludwig Kaiser to help elevate and support the unstoppable Gunther.
The Italian superstar hasn't been seen in WWE in quite a while. His last match was on the April 22nd, 2024, edition of Monday Night RAW. It was then that he lost and was kicked out of the group in a violent manner by Ludwig Kaiser.
Vinci was drafted to SmackDown but since he is yet to appear on it, he could switch back to RAW and return to attack Gunther at SummerSlam. The Ring General is challenging for the world title, but it would be sweet revenge if Giovanni could stop Gunther from winning the gold. From there, a feud would be inevitable.
#3. Jey Uso could move to SmackDown for The Bloodline Saga
Jey Uso is one of the most popular stars in all of WWE. Despite spending most of his career as one half of The Usos or as part of The Bloodline, he has proven to be capable as a singles competitor. Jey has main-evented RAW on numerous occasions and even headlined SummerSlam last year.
Main Event Jey Uso isn't booked for SummerSlam but that doesn't mean family of his won't be appearing. The Bloodline will be in action when Solo Sikoa challenges Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Many expect Roman Reigns to return on Saturday. If The Tribal Chief does make his comeback, he might not do so alone. He could very well reunite with Jey, which would mean Uso has to move to SmackDown to help Roman fight Solo, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa.
#2. Tegan Nox could move to NXT
Tegan Nox is an extremely talented Welsh star. She started her WWE career through NXT, the Mae Young Classic, and NXT UK. She has also spent time on both RAW and SmackDown, although she's currently assigned to the blue brand following the 2024 Draft.
Unfortunately, the talented Nox hasn't been seen on WWE television for quite a while now. Her last televised match took place on the April 1st edition of Monday Night RAW where she lost a Six-Woman Tag Team Match to Damage CTRL. Her absence could come to an end soon, however.
At SummerSlam, or on the NXT immediately following the PLE, Tegan could switch brands. The Girl With The Shiniest Wizard announcing it during the show, however, would make her subsequent move far more impactful. Perhaps, she could reveal it in a vignette, which advertises Night 2 of the Great American Bash.
#1. Kevin Owens could move to WWE RAW to chase the World Heavyweight Championship
Kevin Owens is a future WWE Hall of Famer. He has held the Universal Championship, Intercontinental Championship, United States Championship, tag team gold, and even the NXT Title. Beyond that, he has headlined WrestleMania on two separate occasions.
The Prizefighter is once at war with The Bloodline on Friday Night SmackDown. This time, however, the group has managed to take him out of action. While many WWE fans assume he'll be back to continue fighting the good fight, he could instead move to RAW.
In what could be a shocker, Owens could appear following Gunther vs. Damian Priest at SummerSlam. He could hit the winner with a Stunner and reveal that he has signed with Adam Pearce's show in favor of chasing championship glory. Could Owens win the World Heavyweight Title for the first time?
