The end of the Revenge Tour or toppling a Queen? 4 WWE champions who may lose their titles before 2025

Regarding champions in wrestling, primarily in WWE, not all titleholders are created equal. Major champions like Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Gunther will, by default, have lengthier runs than others.

Both titles switched hands in 2024, with Rhodes winning at WrestleMania 40 and Gunther winning at SummerSlam. Due to each star's booking and spot in WWE, they'll likely enter 2025 with their belts.

However, the next four current WWE champions may not enter the new year holding their titles.

#4. The Judgment Day aren't fighting champions

JD McDonagh and Finn Balor won the World Tag Team titles thanks to meddling from Liv Morgan. The Awesome Truth wouldn't set the world on fire after capturing the belts at WrestleMania 40.

Even with the numbers game, the team will have to pivot to different feuds once they're done with Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley. The New Day could defeat them due to their standing in WWE history.

Jey Uso and Priest could gain revenge by winning the titles from the Judgment Day. Jey and Sami could dethrone them. Even the Creeds or the LWO could win the belts in a multi-team match. The faction walked into WrestleMania 40 with the belts but won't walk into 2025 with them.

#3. Liv Morgan has improved her WWE stock in 2024

Liv may be doing a great job as the current Women's World Champion, but she won't end 2024 with the belt.

She's improved over the last three years but still sits well below women like Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, and Rhea Ripley in the division's pecking order. Morgan may have defeated The Eradicator, but it wasn't a clean win.

Since she primarily acts as a cowardly heel who runs from danger, the writing is on the wall for her reign. Whether it's Ripley, Tiffany Stratton (Miss Money in the Bank), or another star, Morgan's run is in jeopardy.

#2. Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill are biding time until they go for singles gold

Holding the WWE Women's tag titles keeps Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill on TV screens and allows them to appear on all three brands. The problem is that having two superpowerhouses as champions makes investing in their title matches hard.

The fact that they're booked to always overcome the odds, like John Cena, takes suspense away from their feuds. Since they're physical matches, both women could challenge Nia Jax.

To honestly give the rest of the women's tag team division a chance to get on TV, The EST and The Storm will drop the belts before 2025. The titles have already changed hands four times this year.

WWE may want one or both to move to RAW to bolster its women's division. Regardless of whether they hold titles, they're both used more in promotional material.

#1. Nia Jax's storybook year won't run into 2025

Nia Jax redeemed herself greatly in 2024. Not only did she win the Queen of the Ring Tournament, but she also claimed singles gold for the first time in years.

That run vindicated The Annihilator as she vastly improved her work in and out of the ring since returning to WWE. It's nice that she's been rewarded for her hard work, but it feels like she's keeping the spot warm for one of SmackDown's super faces.

Once Belair and Cargill finish in the tag division, they'll challenge Jax. They may even challenge her while still champions, facilitating a much-needed split. WWE may also be keeping the title on Jax for another reason.

Once Charlotte Flair is healthy, bookers will probably want to give her a title run. She missed all of 2024 and is usually thrust into title pictures immediately upon her return. As the company heads into the first half of 2025, WWE may want The Queen to hold a title to start the year.
