#6 Neville vs. Austin Aries – WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Can the King of the Cruiserweights hold on to his crown?

Since the Cruiserweight Classic aired on the WWE Network, the crop of WWE Superstars that WWE hired following this competition, have been competing on Raw. They also have their own show on the WWE Network that follows WWE SmackDown Live, WWE 205 Live.

The Cruiserweight Championship has changed hands multiple times in the run up to WrestleMania but the guy that has done the most with it, and turned the attention to the division, is Neville.

Having won the Cruiserweight Championship from Rich Swann at the 2017 Royal Rumble, Neville beat Jack Gallagher at Fastlane and decimated the competition.

Austin Aries injured his eye socket at the end of 2016 and while he was recovering from this injury, took over duties as the commentator for the Cruiserweight matches. As Neville was tearing through the division, Austin’s interviews with the Cruiserweight Champion were getting more and more heated until Aries finally struck and attacked The King of the Cruiserweights.

Austin Aries went on to win a Fatal 5-Way match on 205 Live against T.J Perkins, Tony Nese, Akira Tozawa and The Brian Kendrick to earn a Championship opportunity against Neville.

It’s no secret that the Cruiserweights have had a hard time getting over with the WWE Universe. With minimal crowd reaction and therefore minimal interest in the brand and the Superstars, it’s unfortunate that they have become the low-point of Monday nights.

The wrestlers that make up the 205 Live roster are so incredibly talented; they are not getting the praise they are due. Hopefully, the aggression and character of Neville, mixed with the experience and talent of Austin Aries should make for a fantastic match.

Since Neville turned heel, he has certainly made me take notice.

I hope they can put the Cruiserweights back on the map.
