Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to star in a new Disney movie based on the Jungle Cruise theme-park ride, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The script is being written by the same people behind the Will Smith heist movie Focus – John Requa and Glenn Ficarra.
There is no filming date as of yet, but Disney have reportedly wanted to get the idea off the ground since 2004. The ride is a Disneyland original that takes riders through the Nile and Congo rivers, so it’s likely to be an adventure story.
The Rock is quoted as saying:
"[Disney production president] Sean Bailey and Disney have been awesome partners and now the fun part begins ... We're starting to put in the work with Requa and Ficarra and our creative team. Fired up about this one. Here we go."
