The Rock's WWE return earlier this year en route to WrestleMania XL was one of the most memorable and exciting runs that happened in recent history. Unfortunately, it looks like his status for next year's Show of Shows is currently up in the air.
The Rock made his WWE return earlier this year and was initially set to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL. However, fan outcry led to Cody Rhodes taking on Reigns instead. Despite this shift, Dwayne Johnson still played a crucial role by introducing his heel character: The Final Boss. Cody defeated Roman at the event then they later teamed up at Bad Blood to face Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu, which saw Dwayne return following the main event. The comeback fueled speculation about a triple-threat match at WrestleMania 41. However, rumors suggest Dwayne Johnson may not even be scheduled for the event.
According to the latest report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Rock is not in talks for WrestleMania 41 due to his schedule suddenly becoming too heavy, though plans can always change. Interestingly, the site also noted that some with "old school mentalities" didn't like how he stole the show but is now no longer committed to having a match.

WON added that if Dwayne's situation changes, he will have to go through another training camp to prepare and get in wrestling shape like he did for his match at this year's Grandest Stage of Them All.
What did The Rock previously say about competing at WWE WrestleMania 41?
The Final Boss missing WrestleMania 41 will certainly not be ideal due to him being heavily involved with The Bloodline and Cody's storyline. Not only that, but he has previously teased about competing at next year's Show of Shows.
While on ESPN in June, The Rock addressed speculations about competing at WrestleMania 41 by saying it will be the biggest 'Mania of all time and hinted at participating in "the biggest match of all time."
"We're on the one-yard line to create the biggest WrestleMania of all time and the biggest match of all time at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. I'll just leave it at that, Final Boss style."
It remains to be seen what will be The Rock's status on The Road to WrestleMania 41 next year in Las Vegas.
