Cody Rhodes successfully defended his Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa in the main event of SummerSlam. This came after Roman Reigns returned to take the self-proclaimed Tribal Chief out.
The American Nightmare kicked off the latest episode of SmackDown and offered to defend his title against Kevin Owens at WWE Bash in Berlin later this month. The Prizefighter was hesitant to accept the challenge, but he later changed his mind after a meeting with the blue brand's General Manager, Nick Aldis.
A lot of things in the Stamford-based promotion may change if Rhodes loses his title in Germany.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
So, without further ado, let's take a look at five things that could happen if Kevin Owens becomes the new Undisputed WWE Champion at Bash in Berlin.
#5. The Rock's return gets delayed
The Rock made his last appearance on the episode of WWE RAW after WrestleMania XL. He told Cody Rhodes that The American Nightmare had finished his story with Roman Reigns, but The Final Boss was not done with the champion.
The Great One set his sights on the Undisputed WWE title before going on a hiatus and is reportedly set to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. However, if Kevin Owens wins the title at Bash in Berlin, Triple H may change his plans for The Rock.
The Brahma Bull may not return at all for the next Show of Shows, or he may return for a match with Roman Reigns after The Original Tribal Chief is done with Solo Sikoa.
#4. Cody Rhodes gets traded to WWE RAW
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns are the two biggest babyfaces in WWE right now. However, they may not be able to co-exist as both of them are on SmackDown.
If The American Nightmare loses his title to Kevin Owens, Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis could discuss a trade involving Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso or Sami Zayn.
A WarGames match between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa's Bloodline is inevitable at Survivor Series, so this may be one way to bring The Original Tribal Chief's former stablemates on SmackDown ahead of it.
RAW would benefit a lot if Cody Rhodes returns to the brand ahead of its huge move to Netflix in January 2025.
#3. Cody Rhodes turns heel
Cody Rhodes offering Kevin Owens an Undisputed WWE Championship match at Bash in Berlin sparked speculation about The Prizefighter turning heel at some point in the rivalry.
However, Triple H may swerve fans by having The American Nightmare turn heel if he ends up losing the title. He may realize that it was a mistake to offer a title shot to Owens and attack him at Bash in Berlin after a potential title loss.
With Roman Reigns becoming the top babyface, Rhodes could get a character change this way and immediately become the biggest heel on the brand.
#2. Cody Rhodes helps Roman Reigns against Solo Sikoa's Bloodline
After the vicious attack from Jacob Fatu on Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, Solo Sikoa almost dethroned The American Nightmare as the Undisputed WWE Champion.
If Roman Reigns did not return to take out Solo Sikoa, Rhodes would probably lose his title. Therefore, The American Nightmare may return the favor to The Original Tribal Chief by helping him against Sikoa and his men.
Roman Reigns will still need a fifth member for his team if he reunites with The Usos and Sami Zayn for a potential WarGames match. Cody Rhodes could fill that spot to help his former rival.
#1. Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes 3 gets canceled
Cody Rhodes ended Roman Reigns' 1316 days-long Undisputed WWE Championship reign in the main event of the second night of WrestleMania XL.
The Original Tribal Chief never got a rematch for the title. He also helped The American Nightmare retain the title at SummerSlam. So, Reigns has two solid reasons for another title match with Rhodes after the former is done with Solo Sikoa.
If Cody Rhodes loses the title to Kevin Owens at Bash in Berlin, then there's a good chance that Rhodes vs. Reigns III will not happen. The Stamford-based promotion will have to book another Reigns vs. Owens match in such a scenario.
