WWE has had an incredible year in 2024. The Sports Entertainment Juggernaut is making more money than ever before and drawing more fans on a regular basis.

Part of the reason for the success of the company is Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare returned to World Wrestling Entertainment in 2022. His arrival, The Bloodline story, Triple H taking over creative, and Vince McMahon's exit have all helped propel the company to new heights.

Now, Cody needs to look ahead to 2025. While he is currently on the shelf thanks to a Package Piledriver from Kevin Owens, he will almost certainly be back and better than ever soon. The only question is what will his career look like moving forward?

This article will take a look at a handful of directions for Cody in 2025. This includes losing his prized belt, battling The Rock, and a shocking heel turn. What might Rhodes do in the new year?

Below are four directions for Cody Rhodes in 2025:

#4. He might lose the Undisputed WWE Championship at the beginning of the year

Cody Rhodes is the current Undisputed WWE Champion. He won the prized title by defeating Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 41. In the eight months since then, he has been a fighting champion and one to remember.

In what could be a major change to the Undisputed WWE Title picture, Rhodes may lose the prized belt at the beginning of 2025. This could happen in a number of different ways.

He could be stripped of the belt if Triple H feels like Rhodes can't return to the ring soon enough to defend the belt. Alternatively, Kevin Owens could get one more match against Cody and ultimately dethrone the champion. Regardless, that belt might be gone soon.

#3. The Rock and Cody Rhodes could go one-on-one at WrestleMania

The Rock's return in 2024 was something to behold. While he initially made his comeback as a babyface, he quickly pivoted and became The Final Boss, a heel that WWE fans love to boo.

His main enemy during this time was Cody Rhodes. On the WWE RAW after WrestleMania XL, Rhodes and The Rock went face-to-face and The Final Boss promised to come back for Cody's World Title.

In 2025, Cody and The Rock may go one-on-one and at the biggest show possible: WrestleMania 41. It would be the biggest match possible for The American Nightmare.

#2. Cody Rhodes will likely feud with Randy Orton

Cody Rhodes has had many allies in WWE. The likes of Jey Uso and Sami Zayn are close friends of his. Meanwhile, Kevin Owens is a former ally, but he has turned into a bitter enemy.

Rhodes' main ally is his former mentor Randy Orton. The Viper and Cody have been associated with each other in some way since Cody debuted in WWE. Unfortunately for Rhodes, the two may have an ugly split in 2025.

There is a very real chance that Randy Orton will return from his injury and immediately turn heel on Cody Rhodes. He could blame The American Nightmare for putting him in a spot to get hurt. Above all else, he definitely wants the World Championship, which means he needs to target the man with the gold.

#1. He could turn heel in 2025

Since returning to WWE in 2022, Cody Rhodes has been a beloved babyface. Kids look up to him and adults love his wrestling, which makes for a good combination.

Interestingly, some fans have been certain that the WWE audience will turn on Cody. They've been predicting that it will happen since he returned, likely due to how the All Elite Wrestling crowd turned on him. Despite that, Cody is still beloved. That might change in 2025, however.

While Rhodes is loved now, anybody who is on top for a long period of time tends to get backlash from the audience. In 2025, the crowd might turn on Cody Rhodes. if that happens, the son of Dusty Rhodes may turn heel for the first time since his return. This would dramatically shake things up in World Wrestling Entertainment and he'd pull off a villainous role incredibly well.
