CM Punk could've played a major part during the 2016 WWE brand split. Punk would've been a great addition to SmackDown Live and we may have seen Punk go back to the blue brand where he made his mark in the WWE.
The SmackDown Live roster was stacked with talents like John Cena, Randy Orton, and The Miz to name a few. But the most promising superstar who would've been an ideal opponent for CM Punk would be the Phenomenal "AJ Styles".
Punk and Styles feuding over the WWE Championship would've been a more promising story than the others. John Cena's 16th WWE Championship win and Bray Wyatt's title win would not have happened if these two were going at it for the title and this match could've possibly been the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 33.
It will bring mixed emotions when we fantasize about these matches and story-lines CM Punk would've been a part of if he hadn't left the WWE. The only thing we can do now is to hope that Punk would at some point in the future, bury the hatchet with Vince McMahon and Triple H and return to the WWE once again.
Time heals up many wounds and we have to wait to find out if Punk returns to the WWE in the future.
