#1. Carmelo Hayes stole the show with a big win on WWE NXT 2.0
But the night wasn’t over for Isaiah "Swerve" Scott. Carmelo Hayes made a big decision on WWE NXT 2.0 to cash in his contract for an NXT North American Championship match right away.
He attacked Swerve before the match began to further weaken the champion. He then hit a springboard move once the match started and went for a pin, but the champ kicked out.
Swerve tried to fight back, but he was too tired. Carmello remained in control and hit a Diving Axe Kick for the win.
The victory meant NXT 2.0 has a new North American Champion. After Hit Row was drafted to WWE SmackDown, the creative team needed to find a way to take the title off Scott without hurting his value.
The job was well done. Swerve retained his title on his first defense and lost without appearing weak. Hayes now has a chance to become the next top performer on the brand.
