Not only does this week mark Edge's birthday and the couple's wedding anniversary, it's also been nine years since Phoenix walked away from WWE.

The former Women's Champion was once one of the company's fastest rising stars. It could be argued that The Glamazon was ahead of her time in a wrestling ring, which is why she has made her return to the company several times in order to be part of the Women's Revolution.

Nine years ago, the former Women's Champion was in a relationship with Edge who had recently retired from the business. The WWE Hall of Famer requested her release from the company in September 2012 before working her last match on October 29th.

Phoenix noted that frustration was one of the reasons for her decision.

"I was really frustrated with where the women were at from a company standpoint, and the investment that was being made in us. I felt in my heart I had done my best, and I'd try hard to change things but, at some point, I just got frustrated."

Phoenix has since returned to WWE as a commentator on their NXT brand and has wrestled numerous times in recent years.
