TNA announcer Josh Matthews is known as much for his enthusiastic outbursts on social media, as he is his commentating, and the former Tough Enough competitor has taken to Twitter once more to hype TNA’s Total Non-Stop Deletion episode this week.
Matthews didn’t hold back on the hyperbole, stating that the episode is better than any WrestleMania he attended or witnessed.
Whilst this is an immensely bold statement and one that borders on disrespect, the words should be taken with a pinch of salt. Matthews is merely hyping the work of the company he currently works for, and while the noise surrounding TNA’s impending demise has quietened recently, it would be no stretch to say that Total Non-Stop Deletion must be a huge success for the company.
Matthews hasn’t been shy when it comes to ill words directed at his former employers at WWE, and in the past has taken to Twitter on a number of occasions, to bash WWE whilst simultaneously defending TNA .
The opening music video and trailer for the episode have been released, and the show looks as if it is going to be every bit as eventful and wacky as the Final Deletion and Delete or Decay were earlier this year.
Whether or not it is better than any WrestleMania remains to be seen, but what is guaranteed is that it will be unlike anything in the professional wrestling world.
Matthews isn’t the only wrestling announcer to shower Total Non-Stop Deletion with adoration, as last week the legendary Jim Ross commented on the show. Good ol’ JR stated that he had seen some footage from the episode and that it was ‘legit special’, words that carry more weight than Matthews’ claim.
Rumours of JR working for TNA have stuck around for many years, and while a move is unlikely, wrestling fans could be forgiven for reading too much into his tweet.
What can we expect from Total Non-Stop Deletion?
Well, if the previous two specials filmed at the Hardy Compound are anything to go by, it is going to be as over-the-top as professional wrestling gets. There will be explosions, there will be nostalgia, there will be action. Will it provide the much-needed boost that TNA needs?
That remains to be seen, but one can be assured that Apocalypto will cement Matt Hardy’s position as wrestling’s most inventive performer for 2016.
