With The Rock winning the WWE Championship, Triple H and the McMahons started targeting The Rock and Earl Hebner. On the May 4th edition of SmackDown, The Rock was forced to defend the WWE Championship.
The odds were stacked against ‘The Brahma Bull’, as The Rock teamed up with Earl Hebner, to face Triple H, Road Dogg and X-Pac in a 3 on 2 Handicap match!
In the main event, it was The Rock against the world, as Vince, Shane, Tori, Stephanie, Brisco and Patterson watched from ringside. Towards the end, Jericho’s interference gave Earl Hebner the opportunity to connect with a lowblow to X-Pac, and The Rock dropped him with the Rock Bottom to pick up the victory!
The Rock retained the WWE Championship, and the episode drew a staggering 5.3 overall rating!
