Top 10 Matches of the Week: May 26th - June 1st

#5. Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Kofi Kingston – United States Championship Match (WWE Raw)

In an Extreme Rules rematch, newly-minted United States Champion Dean Ambrose defended his title against former champion Kofi Kingston, and the two unsurprisingly tore the house down. While it would’ve been nice to have Ambrose actually pin Kofi instead of having the Shield interfere, the match was still exciting, with Kingston bouncing every where while Ambrose methodically tried to ground him. I think it’s safe to say the United States Championship is finally on the right track again.

#4. ACH & Tadarius Thomas vs. C&C Wrestling Factory vs. QT Marshall & RD Evans (ROH)

Ring of Honor might not have the star power, production value, or widespread audience of WWE and TNA, but their tag team division is ten times better than both companies. In an amazing showcase of tag team wrestling, Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander defeated ACH, Tadarius Thomas, QT Marshall, and RD Evans in an exciting, intense, face-paced match. The crowd was hot the whole time, and there was basically a cool spot every minute. ROH’s tag team matches are becoming the highlight of each week, and it’s a shame that they don’t have a bigger audience.

#3. BJ Whitmer vs. Jay Lethal vs. Mike Bennett (ROH)

First off, let me just say that Maria is the flat out hottest thing in the universe. Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, Lethal, Whitmer, and Bennett put on a great triple threat match to determine the number one contender to Matt Taven’s TV Championship, and the antics of Maria and Corino were a great touch. Lethal would pick up the win after a Lethal Injection, but BJ and Mike Bennett arguably impressed even more with their performances. I still don’t know why Bennett and Lethal aren’t hired by WWE.

#2. The Shield (c) vs. Team Hell No – Tag Team Championship Match (WWE Raw)For the billionth time in a row, the Shield and Team Hell No put on a classic match. Does it even surprise us how good they are anymore? I would tell you why the match was good, but I’d just sound like a broken record from the last three weeks.

#1. Wade Barrett vs. Sheamus (WWE Main Event)

Surprised? Well, if you watched Main Event, you shouldn’t be. Wade Barrett and Sheamus put on another one of those random Main Event gems that we get once a month, and both men showed us how underrated they both are. Chock-full of near falls and great in-ring chemistry, the two men kept the crowd hot and the tension at a high, and put on one hell of a match. You know Money In The Bank is after Payback, maybe if Barrett drops his title…
