#9 Andrade “Cien” Almas
Of all the NXT Championship changes over the years, Andrade “Cien” Almas’ victory over Drew McIntyre at TakeOver: War Games was undoubtedly the most surprising of the lot.
The third-generation Superstar had been on a losing run before he aligned with heel manager Zelina Vega in July 2017, and her presence at ringside kick-started a winning streak that led to a shock victory over McIntyre in November.
When you consider that the average Superstar spends 2-3 years in NXT before moving up to the main roster, you’d imagine that Almas, who made his in-ring debut in January 2016, will be on his way to WWE in 2018.
His character is a lot more developed than most on the NXT roster and, if reports are to be believed, his inevitable call-up was even considered by WWE officials as early as April 2017.
