Top 5 contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship

The Usos are flying with the WWE tag team gold at just the right time. Jimmy and Jey Uso should make 2014 their year, heading a tag team division on the verge of major change.Around two years ago, Usos were a small pawn in the division. They used to battle way down the order. Most of their matches were with teams like 3MB and Santino Marella-Koslov team. Team Hell No and then The Shield were the stories of the division from 2012 to 2013. The Usos were but a minor subplot. It is remarkable to think that since they debuted on Raw back in 2010, they have not won the championships on a single occasion. They bring a brand of wrestling to the ring that no other tag team in the WWE currently does. It is exciting, high risk and the kind of action that makes people cheer for you. They had alternated between being a pretty poor heel team and a babyface team, but the last few months have seen them enjoy a meteoric rise in the company. However since the start of their reign as a champion, the tag team division has been put on a back seat with other championships taking the center stage. Here we look at 5 teams who can foster some momentum back in the tag team division along with the Usos.

#5 Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

The two masked men can make up a cool team which would be somewhat of a fantasy team for more than a few fans. The two high fliers can also then challenge the Usos, themselves very fast, and make up some really good matches. For an aging Rey, this would be great in terms of the direction which he is needing for some time now.

Moreover, future breakup can lead to a match on PPV between Rey and Sin Cara which would be a fitting farewell to the biggest underdog of WWE.

#4 Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre

All right, maybe at this point having 3MB anywhere near any kind of titles would be disastrous. Given their past records, they need a complete makeover to become important again. That said, the amount of talent that Drew and Heath have, some kind of good booking may still do wonders to the two.

3MB are in need of a character change and maybe after that, some kind of good booking can lead them to better platforms and titles.

#3 Dolph Ziggler and The Miz

Dolph Zigger and The Miz are former world champions. Both of them have very supportive and loyal fanbases. They have charisma and are good on mic and in ring. With neither of them getting a lot of time as singles’ athlete, forming a team can lead to a change in fortunes.

As per past rumours, creative team of WWE were thinking about creating a team of the two, although we have not yet seen anything of that sort happening till now. However, any such booking move would be beneficial to the division on the whole and to the concerned superstars.

#2 RybAxel

Curtis Axel and Ryback were Paul Heyman guys. Curtis Axel and Ryback were not having much of a direction after getting disowned by Heyman. Curtis Axel and Ryback lost a lot of momentum after having some very good starts to their career on the main roster. But Curtis Axel and Ryback also formed RybAxel, which gave them some direction and added hope to their careers.

#1 Luke Harper and Erick Rowan

The two muscle men of the Wyatt Family top the list for the contenders of the tag team championship. Both Harper and Rowan have improved tremendously in the ring since their debut. Harper especially has gone from strength to strength and is good on the mic as well.

With Bray being involved in a feud with Cena, it would be helpful to the family if the other two can win a championship to remain relevant. If the Usos overcome the two monsters, it would be a big thing for the Usos as well.
