#1 Kofi Kingston vs Chris Jericho (Night of Champions 2008)
One of the first major wins for Kofi Kingston came when he defeated Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Championship at Night of Champions 2008. This was not an advertised or heavily pushed match as it was added at the last minute. Jericho was involved in a personal feud with Shawn Michaels, but he was forced to defend the IC Title on the show with every championship on the line.
Kingston was selected as arguably the most popular rising mid-card face at the time. A great back and forth match would end when Michaels’ interference helped Kingston steal the win. Kofi would get a huge win while playing a role in a bigger storyline on the show. This match and win showed that Kingston could hang with a top star like Jericho and did a lot for his reputation.
There is a good chance Kofi will have a new match added to his top hits when he does face Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35. If Kingston wins, this will be a celebration for his long journey to the top and all these matches played a role in his progression to the rise of KofiMania.
