Hogan faced his biggest challenge for the title to that point when he defended his title at WrestleMania III against Andre the Giant. While Hogan had previously defended the belt at the main event of WrestleMania II against King Kong Bundy in a steel cage, Andre presented Hogan with a much greater challenge.

Brock Lesnar changed major Royal Rumble plans? More details HERE.

While Hogan had faced and defeated Bundy both at House Shows and on TV prior to WrestleMania II, Andre and Hogan had intentionally been kept apart so that Andre could be built up as an unstoppable monster.

The story building into the match, and in the match itself was that of how Hogan would be able to defeat the giant. Specifically, it was seen that Hogan would never be able to pick Andre the Giant up to body slam him. The body slam, at the time, was seen as one of Hogan's most powerful moves, along with his finisher the atomic leg drop.

Towards the start of the match, Hogan would attempt to pick Andre up for a body slam only for Hogan to collapse under Andre's weight. This fed directly into the finish as Hogan was eventually able to get the giant off his feet, before lifting him up and performing the body slam. Hogan would then hit the atomic leg drop and pin the Giant on his way to retaining his title.
