Top 5 stars from April 22nd RAW

Undetaker_RAW

This week’s RAW came to us from O2 arena in London, United Kingdom, and saw the RAW return of the legendary phenom, The Undertaker. Not only that, but Triple H was on RAW as well, and The Undertaker was in action on RAW for the first time in over 3 years! If that wasn’t mouth watering enough, you also had the ‘King of Hardcore’, Mick Foley on the show. As you might have guessed by now, this week’s RAW was one of the better shows in recent memory, because of these big names. But who were the top 5 stars coming out of the show? Let’s find out.

5. Chris Jericho

It’s no surprise to find Jericho’s name in the top 5 list. Jericho has been an outstanding performer throughout his career, and this night was no different. The former ‘Ayatollah of Rock n’ Rolla’ put on a 17 minute classic, which will likely be the second best TV match this year, behind Punk – Cena in February. Chris Jericho came back to the WWE to put over the younger talent, and that’s what he did with Dolph Ziggler. With the stipulation that if Jericho won, he would be added to the triple threat match for the World Heavyweight title at Extreme Rules PPV, Jericho fell short of beating Ziggler, but not before putting on a classic for the London crowd.

4. Dolph Ziggler

At number 4 is the other participant of the match, Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler has finally won ‘The big one’, and has been a work horse for the WWE for over 2 years. His title win was long due, and he showed once again why he can be a phenomenal World champion if given the right opportunity. Ziggler put on a good match with Jericho this past week, and came on top. It was nice to see their former rivalry being mentioned on air, as it was arguably one of the best rivalries back then. This earns him the number 4 spot in the list. Hopefully, the World Heavyweight championship match at Extreme Rules will live to its hype, as it has three of the best performers in the wrestling industry at the moment.

3. Mick Foley

Mick Foley has always been one of the best talkers in the business. He is always involved in feuds when the bad guy needs to be booed and the good guy (Most often, John Cena) needs to be supported. The great thing about Mick is, he is believable in everything he says. That’s how you create magic on the mic, and Foley has always understood that. His promo against Ryback served the purpose of making Ryback look like a jealous performer, who is making excuses to fight Cena like a man, and would let the others do the dirty work for him, something Ryback has been trying to say for the past 2 weeks. This is why Foley is ‘Good’.

2. Paul Heyman

At number 2 is one of my personal favourite managers of all time, Paul Heyman. Heyman, similar to Foley, is one of the main catalysts for the feud to go from good to great. The way he tells the story is a work of genius, and should be studied by all the students of the game. He sells the story through his facial expressions, something that others try but fail at, and this is what makes Paul Heyman one of the best managers in the history of the business. This week, Heyman came out and said Triple H sent him a mail, saying he couldn’t be on RAW this week, and when Hunter’s music hit, Paul Heyman’s facial expressions sold the story better than 3 weeks’ worth of promos. Hunter drove the point home with a pedigree on Paul Heyman to end the segment.

1. The Undertaker

And at number 1 is the phenom, who made his RAW in – ring return in over 3 years! The Undertaker teamed up with his storyline half brother Kane, and his tag team partner Daniel Bryan to take on The Shield. After their match, J. R commented that Undertaker over took Andre The Giant as the best big man/heavyweight in professional wrestling history. With all due respect, that is an understatement. The Undertaker has been a phenomenal ambassador for the sport, and is one of the most respected, and loved superstars in the history of the business. Even during this week’s in – ring action, his mannerisms and his performance proved once again how he can deliver whenever he wants! And this is why he is at number 1 in my list, to no one’s surprise.

Well, that does it for this week. Who do you think should be in the top 5? Comment and let us know.
