They did not get the tag team part right with the ‘Divas Revolution’ but Wrestlemania triggered some change in the main roster’s general approach towards its female performers. For the first time ever female performers were addressed as superstars just like the same moniker male performers have always been accustomed to.
So, it’s not farfetched to think that much of the concepts and variety of storylines surrounding the men, the women can be surrounded by them to. We can start that by having a tag team division as well. Again, they did not get it right with the ‘Divas Revolution’ but there’s always an opportunity lying somewhere when things are well thought out and executed properly.
Here are 5 tag teams for the Women’s division
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#1 Emma and Dana Brooke
We start with a team that has already been established. These characters and their gimmicks complimented each other so well that you would want to see Emma have all those squash matches just so Brooke can be at ringside trash talking and being her biggest cheerleader.
Their expressions, backstage promos and those little tropes they use like Brooke head tapping the interviewer, their interactions with Asuka were all instrumental in not only making Asuka’s first program in NXT worthwhile but all making these two an entertaining unit.
Keeping in mind their history at NXT, bringing that across to the main roster is not a bad idea.
#2 Natalya and Tamina
Apart from the fact that their families were instrumental for the wrestling business, what these two also have in common is the fact that they’ve never been properly utilized in singles’ competition. While Natalya is getting opportunities at the title, Tamina’s last memorable title match was a short bout against Beth Phoenix at Elimination Chamber.
If these two join forces, their team should be quite dominant given their strength and technical prowess combined together. And, maybe, get more success being a team than they ever were given the opportunity while they were wrestling solo.
#3 Summer Rae and Lana
They may not be anywhere near the women’s title picture right now and they’ve been part of one of the worst storylines ever in history with Rusev and Dolph Ziggler but one undeniable fact is that these two play their characters perfectly. They are great on the mic and just amazing heels.
Whether it was Lana’s stiff, authoritative demeanor initially as Rusev’s manager or now throwing shoes at Zayn for defeating her fiancé or whether it is Summer Rae’s ringside antics and her dedication to playing every role be it Lana double or Fandango’s dancer – these two are just great characters in the making. Their talent needs better writing and they can do wonders with that.
#4 Alicia Fox and Summer Rae
Again, two women who have been quite underutilized for the amount of talent they have. Alicia Fox is the most underrated talent in the main roster right now. She has greatly improved since coming to the WWE merely as eye candy and being totally green in the ring.
Her meltdown antics during Paige’s initial run in the main roster were stealing the show every night, so much so that you actually wanted to see her win. These two women have been good in tag teams whenever they’ve been given the opportunity to.
#5 Sasha Banks and Bayley
This can be the very new version of ‘The Mega Powers.’
Bayley’s character is a true embodiment of the golden era heroes WWE portrayed. Hulk Hogan being one of them. She’s as much an inspiration to kids or rather a growing influence much like John Cena.
Banks exudes the kind of charisma that only rare superstars do. She lives ‘The Boss’ character to the tee. And she isn’t your textbook babyface. She’s arrogant in the most badass way possible, carries herself with an even more badass vigor. These two have already made history and if they join forces, even if it’s temporary, it has the potential to be great as well.
