The WWE Tag Team Championship picture on Friday Night SmackDown has been fascinating to watch. The top three teams on the brand, The Street Profits, #DIY, and Motor City Machine Guns, have been dealing with a lot of drama and turmoil.
During last week's episode of the blue brand, The Street Profits was meant to challenge MCMG for the Tag Team Titles. Instead, Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford were found laid out backstage.
#DIY then replaced Dawkins and Ford. Towards the end of the match, Johnny Gargano shockingly turned heel on his alleged friends Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, which led to Gargano and Ciampa winning the gold and becoming two-time Tag Team Champions on the blue brand.
This article will look at four duos who should challenge #DIY for the Tag Team Championship. Naturally, The Street Profits and Motor City Machine Guns are the top contenders, so this list will focus on other pairs who could step up instead.

Below are four WWE duos who should challenge #DIY for the Tag Team Championship on SmackDown.
#4. A-Town Down Under could hope to win gold to fix their issues
A-Town Down Under are the former WWE Tag Team Champions. The duo is comprised of former United States Champion Austin Theory and The Aussie Icon Grayson Waller.
Unfortunately for the cocky duo, they have not been on the same page for the past few months on WWE. Many expect a split to happen, potentially with Austin Theory turning babyface following a surprise attack from Grayson Waller.
However, if the two want to remain on the same page, battling and dethroning #DIY could be what gets the two back in each other's good graces. Winning the belts would mean a lot to both men, and they could sustain their time as a duo moving forward.
#3. Pretty Deadly is underrated and underutilized
Pretty Deadly is a tag team currently on WWE Friday Night SmackDown that previously had success on both NXT and NXT UK. The team is comprised of Kit Wilson and Elton Prince, who are extremely charismatic performers.
Many fans expected big things for Elton Prince and Kit Wilson when they first joined WWE's main roster. They debuted with a lot of momentum, but injuries and various setbacks have led to the pair being regarded as comedic enhancement talents rather than title threats.
Triple H could take the underrated and underutilized performers and have them step up to #DIY. If Elton and Kit put on a good performance, it could turn them babyface in the eyes of the crowd, which could also give the team new life in World Wrestling Entertainment moving forward.
#2. Legado del Fantasma want gold
Legado del Fantasma is a stable on SmackDown, which has had a successful run on WWE NXT. While some members have come and gone, the current lineup includes Santos Escobar, Angel, Berto, and Elektra Lopez.
Angel and Berto make up the tag team for the current version of Legado del Fantasma. Now known as Los Garza, the two had a revival on WWE NXT before joining Legado and now hope to win gold despite occasional setbacks on the blue brand.
A bout between #DIY and Los Garza could be quite interesting, as both duos are heels. Which of the two teams would get more heat? Would one turn babyface just for a night? The options are interesting to ponder, but the result would certainly be a fantastic match from four incredible in-ring competitors.
#1. Fraxiom could be called up from WWE NXT
Fraxiom is a tag team currently on WWE NXT. Axiom and Nathan Frazer made up the tandem and were first singles stars on NXT UK and later here in the United States. They formed an unlikely bond after a series of incredible matches against each other.
Since becoming a team, the pair have become two-time WWE NXT Tag Team Champions. They also put on some of the best matches in pro wrestling and are often regarded as one of the top tag teams in the industry today.
With the newly introduced transfer window allowing for roster moves, Fraxiom could move up to SmackDown and challenge #DIY. They could either hope to become double champions or relinquish their prized NXT Tag Team Titles in favor of holding main roster gold. Regardless, a match between Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa vs. Axiom & Nathan Frazer would likely be the bout of the year.
