It might take a while before fans see Jade Cargill back in action on WWE SmackDown, as a surprise backstage assault on the November 22, 2024, episode of the blue brand has sidelined the 32-year-old star indefinitely. The Storm's mystery attacker has not been revealed till now, while the Stamford-based company has yet to make a decision on whether she and Bianca Belair will drop the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship or The EST will find a new tag team partner.
This week on SmackDown, WWE could shed more light as to who attacked Cargill, with Naomi being potentially revealed as Jade's mystery attacker. During the upcoming episode of the blue brand, The Glow will face Miss Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton and Elektra Lopez in a Triple Threat Match for a spot in the semi-finals of the ongoing tournament to crown the inaugural Women's United States Champion.
During the bout, WWE Women's Champion Nia Jax could show up and distract Naomi and Elektra to help The Buff Barbie emerge victorious and advance to the semi-finals to face Michin.
The Glow could then call out Bianca Belair for not showing up to help her and eventually have a heel turn, revealing that she was the one who assaulted Jade Cargill backstage, setting the stage for a feud between the two women. The last time Naomi was a heel in the Stamford-based company was back in August 2016.
Jade Cargill appears to be in WWE's internal injury list
There was a lot of confusion regarding Jade Cargill's injury and whether it was a storyline or a legitimate one. There were reports that it was part of a storyline and was a way for WWE to write her off TV to create her next feud.
On the other hand, there was speculation that the injuries were legitimate and The Storm was expected to miss at least three months of in-ring action, meaning that she would potentially be back in time before WrestleMania 41.
Now, a new report has surfaced, with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reporting that Cargill was part of WWE's internal injury list and that Jade had reportedly revealed that she was dealing with legitimate injuries.
If this is the case, then WWE had to use the backstage assault angle to write The Storm off TV. It remains to be seen what the Stamford-based company has in store for the 32-year-old star moving forward.
