Top WWE Superstars from RAW (8/7/13)

RVD

The guy wasn’t even on the show you may say, then how is he on the list?

Well thanks to the amazing video production team on hand in the WWE, RVD’s return at the MITB has got me, and I am sure I am not the only one even more excited than I already was. The show featured ladder highlights from RVD’s career and it meshed really well with the briefcase hanging above the ring all through the night. Although not a big draw or a superstar of the likes of Steve Austin or Hulk Hogan, the video package made his return seem like a big deal.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

It was nice to see WWE investing so much in RVD, though it would have been nicer had they done something similar 12 years ago when he was a fresh guy from ECW and really was the Whole f’n show. Always unorthodox and probably too much of a rebel, he is a quintessential Paul Heyman guy and it should be fun to see him back on WWE TV and dealing with Heyman again.

The Wyatt Family

After more than a month of creepy vignettes being aired on WWE TV, The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan) made their debut on RAW. There has been a lot of attention to detail and unique camera/production effects that we haven’t seen in many WWE video packages used for the Wyatt Family promos, and their entrance took it further.

It was quite chilling to watch Bray Wyatt lead the charge in a dark arena with a lamp dimly lighting the way while his ‘sons’ Luke Harper and Erick Rowan followed him. After he sat down on a rocking chair, Wyatt sat and watched his family members attack Kane, who had just finished competing in a match with Christian.

Their first appearance on RAW was simple and effective. They destroyed a credible name in the promotion, who was the creepiest character….that is until now. After the attack, the family got together and ominously had a hearty celebration over the fallen Big Red Monster.

Can’t ask for anything more than that.

Daniel Bryan

Yet again the show opened with the familiarly likeable Goat face squaring off against Sheamus in the match of the night…. Yes Yes Yes.

Yet again, he closed the show and had the crowd cheering for him, though with a slightly heel touch….. No? Maybe. With the current support from the crowd, it would be a travesty to not let Daniel Bryan engage with Cena, a polarizing character with the WWE universe. These 2 could have an amazing feud and that feud would draw and sell.

The match with Sheamus that DB had was as good as any match we have seen this year on free TV and he rightly got the pin on the Irishman. Like it seems to be the case with his opponents of late, Sheamus shook his hand before walking off. But Daniel Bryan was nowhere to be seen when his “best friend” Kane was attacked by the debuting faction of the Wyatt family.

Understandably, he had had a match and it’s normal for the wrestler to not be paying attention to the happenings after that. But after the main-event pitting the Viper against the straight-edge superstar had finished, Bryan ran into the ring and assaulted both of them, took the ladder into the ring and grabbed the briefcase, probably signing his upcoming fate at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

Would be great viewing if that happens and Bryan goes on to challenging Cena for the title at Summerslam.
