#2 Hulk Hogan
As a key part of the WWF in the 1980s and into the early 1990s, Hulk Hogan ruled the ring, and his feuds with the likes of Randy Savage, Andre the Giant, King Kong Bundy and Roddy Piper defined an era. When Hulk Hogan turned his back on WCW and became Hollywood Hulk Hogan, it not only signified a change in character, but a change in direction for WCW.
During his time with WCW, he held the World championship on a number of occasions, both as a face and a heel.
However, while he was there, he never held the United States championship. When WWE purchased WCW, they adopted the US title, and in doing so, provided their talent an opportunity to capture that particular Championship.
When Hogan returned to WWE he captured the tag team Championship and even won the World championship again. However, during his time there, he didn't capture the US Championship and was never even booked to compete for the title.
It seems odd that a ‘real American' wouldn't be competing for the United States championship.
