WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H doesn’t shy away from showing wrestlers their place if they cross a major boundary. A former Universal Champion seems to have given The Game enough reasons to reprimand him. Moreover, it is even possible that The King of Kings could remove Kevin Owens from the 2025 Royal Rumble match.
Winning the Royal Rumble gives a wrestler a guaranteed title shot against a world champion at the biggest stage of WWE, WrestleMania. Several top stars and legends have won the Rumble and then earned the world championship at 'Mania, including the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes.
Kevin Owens recently made headlines for using a Package Piledriver on The American Nightmare soon after his loss at Saturday Night’s Main Event. This was the second time The Prizefighter used the banned wrestling move to dispatch a wrestler on a stretcher, after Randy Orton.
While Triple H tried to keep KO away from SmackDown’s programming previously, he may now take a harsher step. Since Owens’ actions could also have been motivated by his desire to win the Undisputed WWE Championship, The Game can punish him by taking KO from the Rumble.
This would directly impact The Prizefighter in a big way and put a fitting leash on him. While this is a strong storyline direction WWE can take, it is just speculation so far.
Kevin Owens can force Triple H to give him another title match
While Triple H can use his power to deny Kevin Owens a spot at the 2025 Royal Rumble, KO can still snake his way to a title match. The Prizefighter’s feud with Cody Rhodes looks to be far from over. The American Nightmare will be back and may want a piece of Owens once again.
Although The Game and Nick Aldis can try to keep Rhodes away if KO pulls up another dirty trick, the Undisputed WWE Champion will get furious once again. Thus, while WWE’s Chief Content Officer will keep Owens out of the Rumble, The American Nightmare could himself demand a match with the former Universal Champion and put his title on the line.
Thus, while The Prizefighter may not be able to win the 30-man Rumble to go to WrestleMania as a challenger, he could gain a chance to headline 'Mania as the Undisputed WWE Champion. It would be interesting to see which direction the company takes to move this feud between Rhodes and Owens forward.
