Triple H to make Gunther lose to Damian Priest at SummerSlam? Exploring why it may be best for business

Gunther earned a title opportunity at SummerSlam 2024 by winning the King of the Ring tournament. He will face World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest at the premium live event, but the WWE Universe can't judge who will walk out the winner. Both of them are capable champions and skilled warriors, therefore both of them stand a chance to walk out the victor.

However, there's a chance Triple H will book this match in favor of The Archer of Infamy. The reason is that Bash at Berlin 2024 is scheduled for August 31st, 2024. So, Gunther could lose at SummerSlam and then get a rematch at Bash in Berlin where he dethrones Damian Priest. Gunther is Austrian but portrays a German character in WWE so it would be better for business to crown The Ring General in Germany.

The overseas WWE crowd always wants to see a superstar from their region walk out as champion. If Gunther is booked for a championship match, several fans will assume he will win, which can boost ticket sales and bring more eyes to the product.

Apart from crowning Gunther in Germany being better for business, Damian Priest's first 'big 4' premium live event as World Heavyweight Champion is SummerSlam. He hasn't been able to defend the title how he would have liked, and taking that chance away at The Biggest Party of The Summer will not do justice to The Archer of Infamy's character as a champion.

Damian Priest isn't the only Judgment Day member booked for SummerSlam 2024

Rhea Ripley returned to Monday Night RAW after being away due to a shoulder injury. She resumed her rivalry with Liv Morgan but this time it was more than just for the Women's World Championship.

Liv Morgan infiltrated The Judgment Day in Ripley's absence and that, of course, did not sit well with 'Mami'. She challenged the Women's World Champion to a match at SummerSlam 2024, and Morgan accepted.

It was important that The Eradicator returned to WWE and resumed the rivalry as Liv Morgan hasn't had many viable challengers in the Judgment Day member's absence. The lack of challenging defenses was taking away from the championship's relevancy.
