SummerSlam 2024's match card is taking an interesting shape. After the latest episode of WWE RAW, Rhea Ripley vs. Liv Morgan for the Women's World Championship has been added to the card. However, there is one non-championship match that fans desperately want to see: CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre.
Currently, The Voice of the Voiceless is not medically cleared to be in the ring. He has till August 3rd, 2024 to get clearance, or else SummerSlam 2024 will go ahead without his fight against Drew McIntyre. Now, Triple H and Co. might have already hinted that fans will have to wait past The Biggest Party of the Summer for this match.

The match was not confirmed on WWE RAW
The Scottish Warrior was present on the latest episode of Monday Night RAW while CM Punk stayed at home. Adam Pearce addressed Drew McIntyre and confirmed he wanted the match just as much as CM Punk and the WWE Universe. The RAW GM's only condition for making the match official was that McIntyre apologized to the referees he hurt at Money in the Bank, but McIntyre refused.
Considering WWE did not make the match official for SummerSlam 2024, it puts a huge question mark on CM Punk's participation in the premium live event. He might not get medical clearance ahead of the event and, hence, the storyline is being further diverted.
Seth Rollins might be the one to take on Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam 2024
On last week's episode of Monday Night RAW, The Visionary confronted CM Punk for interfering in his match with Damian Priest at Money in the Bank. In the fiery promo, Seth Rollins warned Punk that he would be waiting for him to get medically cleared.
On the latest episode of WWE RAW, Drew McIntyre was furious with The Visionary for trying to skip the line and get his hands on Punk before McIntyre. While fuming and refusing to apologize to the referees, McIntyre snapped again and almost attacked Adam Pearce. This is when Rollins ran out to the ring to make the save and kicked McIntyre out of the ring.
Since Pearce was saved by Rollins, he might book Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins for SummerSlam 2024, denying McIntyre the match he really wanted.
WWE might want to spread out the 'big things' across the year
Reportedly, WWE already has Roman Reigns' return planned for SummerSlam 2024. That will be a huge moment for the WWE Universe. So, it makes sense if the company wants to push CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre to the next premium live event.
The feud is already hyped even without a single match, so having Punk cost McIntyre the victory at The Biggest Party of the Summer can lead to an excellent match in the next premium live event, maybe even the main event.
