Under Triple H's regime, WWE is heading towards their special Season Premiere episode of SmackDown tonight on the USA Network. Fans are already excited about the show and are eager to see what surprises The Game has in store for them. However, before the episode goes live on air, the Chief Content Officer made a major announcement.
Here, he disclosed that Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa’s Undisputed Championship Steel Cage match will kick off the show. This has led many to assume that the result of the title bout is now spoiled, with The American Nightmare most likely to retain.
Typically, when a World Title changes hands, the creative prefers to have that match in the main event, as a title change would create a massive buzz after the show’s conclusion. So, if Solo Sikoa vs. Cody Rhodes were the main event of SmackDown, the self-proclaimed Tribal Chief would have had a strong chance of emerging as the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
However, now that the match is set to open SmackDown’s Season Premiere, a title change seems unlikely, which means Rhodes is the favorite to retain his Undisputed Champion after the show.
We’ll just have to wait a few more hours to see what happens in this Steel Cage Match and who will emerge as the winner.
Triple H could plan a massive twist at the end Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa match on SmackDown
Despite being part of SmackDown's kickoff bout, the Steel Cage Match between Rhodes and Sikoa still holds major significance. One potential way the match could end is with the return of Roman Reigns.
The Original Tribal Chief might intentionally aid The American Nightmare, preventing Solo from winning and ultimately allowing Cody to retain the title. However, after this, the Chief Content Officer could plan a massive twist with Roman Reigns laying down a challenge to the Undisputed WWE Champion.
The OTC could claim that his WrestleMania rematch is still pending and that he wants it now. A rematch between Rhodes and Reigns was also teased at SummerSlam when The Head of the Table and Cody Rhodes had a staredown at SummerSlam 2024.
Later, Triple H could use this storyline to set up a Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa match at Bad Blood 2024. Fans are already anticipating The Original Tribal Chief’s return during the Steel Cage Match, but a challenge to Rhodes would certainly add a major twist.
