Triple H might risk permanently damaging 41-year-old star's career if he loses grudge match at WWE SummerSlam

WWE SummerSlam is just days away, and Triple H can book one star to lose at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Ohio. The stars will be out on Saturday (August 3) at the Biggest Party of the Summer, but one must shine the brightest.

LA Knight's long wait for a singles title is about to end when he challenges Logan Paul for the United States Championship. He's the favorite to win, but WWE's Chief Content Officer has yet to pull the trigger on the company's fastest-rising megastar. If the veteran star loses, it could have huge consequences for him and his future.

The closest LA Knight has come to winning a title on WWE's main roster was at Crown Jewel in 2023. He came up short in a singles match against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship. The former Impact World Champion has come close to major success since being called up from NXT. The past year was his breakout year, but Triple H opted to play the long game.

LA Knight was the people's choice to win the Money in the Bank last year but failed to take the briefcase in London. He won a pointless WWE SummerSlam Battle Royal, which showed Triple H how over he was, as his win was arguably the night's highlight.

The WWE SmackDown star also could not win the Undisputed WWE Championship at this year's Royal Rumble. Roman Reigns prevailed in a fatal four-way match against Knight, AJ Styles, and Randy Orton.

This Saturday at WWE SummerSlam allows Triple H to finally put the rocket on the hugely popular star and a title to boot. Logan Paul's reign has been arguably shambolic, as he's only defended the title twice.

Fans might start losing faith in Knight if he falls short once again in a high-profile match. It's now or never for the Los Angeles star, and there shouldn't be a temptation to keep the belt on The Maverick despite the premium live event taking place in his hometown.

Triple H should book this feud to end at WWE SummerSlam

LA Knight and Logan Paul's rivalry was a long time coming. They have had run-ins throughout the year, teasing an eventual feud. The duo's back-and-forth promos have been enthralling and given the United States Title picture a much-needed lift.

However, just because their rivalry has clicked doesn't mean it needs to be extended beyond WWE SummerSlam. The Biggest Party of the Summer should culminate their storyline, with Paul perhaps taking a short leave of absence after losing.

There are suggestions Paul could appear at Bash in Berlin (August 31) and Bad Blood (October 5). The YouTube megastar is advertised for the two PLEs, but this doesn't necessarily mean he's guaranteed to be booked on the card.

LA Knight deserves a singles title run for his hard work

It's easy to forget that LA Knight arrived on WWE's main roster as Max Dupri, a talent manager who wouldn't be competing in the ring. That gimmick was a ridiculous use of a star as talented as the 41-year-old.

Triple H saw the potential in Knight, as he'd previously worked with him in NXT. The Game talked up his determination to reach the top when speaking eight months ago:

"I knew him in the very beginning. He was in NXT early in the system. A lot, he’ll admit this, a lot to his own doing, he caused himself to not be in it, but he kept grinding, kept grinding, kept grinding, and here is sort of running towards the end of his career and all of a sudden, he’s making it and becoming a big deal." The former NWA star faced obstacles during his WWE main roster stint but came out with flying colors. It's time for Triple H to recognize his hard work with a singles title run starting with a big WWE SummerSlam win.

LA Knight's United States Title run opens the door for some exciting feuds

The United States Championship picture is perhaps the weakest it's been for quite some time, given Logan Paul's lack of defense. LA Knight could give the US Title a fresh direction, and he has plenty of upcoming heel talent to compete with post-WWE SummerSlam.

LA Knight has already had problems with Carmelo Hayes, and the pair could reignite their feud over the title. Other heels on WWE SmackDown include Grayson Waller, Shinsuke Nakamura, and even one of The Bloodline such as Tama Tonga.

There is even the potential for Knight to face babyfaces or crossover talent such as Joe Hendry. The Scot is making waves on NXT amid WWE's recent collaboration with TNA, and promo battles between the pair will be electric.

Triple H has been open to giving the fans what they want, which could continue at WWE SummerSlam.
