WWE RAW was one for the record books, and history was made in the main event that perhaps suggests Triple H has slipped up. Jey Uso took on Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship.
To many fans' surprise, Jey dethroned Breakker and became the new Intercontinental Champion. It's the first singles title of the former Bloodline member's career.
It's a jubilant occasion for Main Event Jey, who has waited his entire career for his moment in the singles spotlight. On the flip side, what does it mean for Breakker, who was just a month into his reign as champion?
Breakker had been booked strong after beating Sami Zayn at SummerSlam for the title. He was propelled into the role of one of WWE RAW's monster heels, decimating anybody in his way.
Triple H appeared to see money in the former NXT Champion, but tonight, the WWE Chief Content Officer decided to pull the plug on his reign. It's a decision that could have huge consequences as Breakker lost the title and some legitimacy as a top heel.
The WWE Universe expected Breakker to successfully defend his title as he hadn't held it for long. It will be intriguing to see how he's booked now and whether The Game has played the wrong deck at this stage in the 26-year-old's career.
"I'm shocked," "Insanely stupid" - Fans hit out at Triple H's decision
Triple H's decision to take the Intercontinental title off Bron Breakker hasn't gone down well with fans on social media. A large section of the WWE Universe feels he's made a mistake and that this will derail the second-generation superstar's push.
One fan was left shocked by the outcome of WWE RAW's main event, on X/Twitter he wrote:
"I'm shocked. I really thought they were pulling the trigger on Bron Breakker."
Another fan lashed out at The Game for his handling of LA Knight and Breakker:
"LA Knight gets over and it takes him over a year to win a title. Jey says “yeet” and gets handed the ic title by BEATING F*****G BRON BREAKKER. Insanely stupid," another wrote.
Breakker's title reign ended in 52 days, which is remarkably short during the new era of WWE. He'd defended the belt just once before tonight, defeating Sami Zayn in a rematch of their SummerSlam match.
Jey's fans are pleased to see him end his long wait for a singles title. That said, you have to question the booking of Breakker and whether this is a decision Triple H will come to regret.
