Triple H to trade 10-time champion to WWE SmackDown tonight as Jey Uso's replacement? Exploring massive twist

Jey Uso still hasn't been replaced on SmackDown.

The season premiere of Friday Night SmackDown tonight will surely be a blockbuster show, with Triple H promising a significant announcement. Many have speculated what The Game will say, but what could it actually be? One option is the payoff to a long-standing question.

When Jey Uso moved to Monday Night RAW, WWE official Adam Pearce announced that SmackDown would receive a superstar from the red brand in trade compensation. That is yet to happen, raising the question of whether the company has forgotten about it.

Triple H has a chance to right that wrong and announce a game-changing trade. Cody Rhodes could be the one who is moved to SmackDown in place of Jey Uso. But wait, isn't he one-half of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions? Well, yes, but this trade makes sense.

Since the Tag Team Titles float across brands, Rhodes and Uso can remain together until they lose the belts. This would mean a complete split once it happens, with the inability to challenge for them again.

If it happens, it would be a sad sight after seeing their friendship evolve so quickly. That legendary post-Fastlane press conference will never be forgotten.

Triple H should move Cody Rhodes to WWE SmackDown, but why?

The American Nightmare has major unfinished business on the blue brand. He has yet to receive a rematch after losing to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, with a move to the blue brand likely to speed up that process.

Cody Rhodes won't finish his story unless he wins the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, be it against The Tribal Chief or whoever else holds the title. WrestleMania 40 is the perfect destination for the switch to finally happen, so the build should start as soon as possible.

If Triple H trades Rhodes to SmackDown tonight, it will set everything in motion. The added jeopardy of his tag team with Jey Uso possibly ending would complement the anticipation of Cody finally confronting Roman Reigns again.
