Vince McMahon has been in the business for a long time and as such, has seen top Superstars come and go. However, there have been some Superstars who left WWE in such a way that it affected Vince in his personal life.
One such exit was that of Hulk Hogan when he left WWE to go to WCW. Bruce Prichard on his most recent 'Something to Wrestle' podcast revealed how truly hurt the WWE Chairman was when Hulk Hogan left the company that had made him a household name in the world of professional wrestling and had created 'Hulkamania'.
Vince McMahon was 'hurt from a personal standpoint'
Bruce Prichard said that when Hogan left WWE to go to WCW, it was like a 'bad divorce' for Vince, and the WWE Chairman was deeply hurt from a personal standpoint. He had helped make Hogan the big name that he was and him leaving to join a competitor like WCW felt personal.

“He was hurt, and he was hurt not just from a business standpoint, he was hurt from a personal standpoint, because through those building years, there were no two closer people in the business than Vince and Hulk, that helped develop all those aspects of Hulkamania along the way.
"So there was a personal bond and a personal friendship that had been built that now, Hulk going, he can say it was business, it was personal. I think Vince really took it personally and I think he was hurt. It was like a really bad divorce.” (h/t 411mania.com)
Prichard went on to say that the company was no longer hoping for a return by Hogan after he left and were more focused on making Bret Hart a big name instead.
