Wade Barrett is presently doing a remarkable job as part of the WWE commentary team on RAW. Besides this, Barrett is also an accomplished in-ring performer and has attained many accolades while competing in the squared circle. One of the major factions that Wade has been part of was a stable called The Nexus.
He was the leader of the faction, which included major names who are no longer with the Stamford-based promotion. This list includes former WWE stars such as Jinder Mahal, Heath Slater, Ryback, and more. Recently, in an interview, the five-time WWE champion Heath Slater teased a return to WWE by calling out Triple H to reform The Nexus.
The 41-year-old star emphasized that the former Nexus members are no longer boys but men. Hence, it could be huge if Triple H decides to bring them back to WWE. Since Wade Barrett, the former leader of The Nexus, is already active in the company, Triple H could orchestrate a Nexus return if he sees potential in the group.

This could start if Wade Barrett helps Slater come back to WWE. Both stars could reform The Nexus, possibly leading to the in-ring return of Bad News Barrett. The last time Wade wrestled in the squared circle was on April 4, 2016. Since then, he has yet to step back into the ring for a match. As for Slater, he has been actively competing on the independent circuit. During his WWE run, he became a one-time WWE Tag Team Champion, three-time WWE World Tag Team Champion, and a one-time 24/7 Champion.
More accolades could be added to this list if The Nexus gets revamped in the Stamford-based promotion. Triple H is well known for delivering surprises under his regime. It remains to be seen whether he will decide to bring back The Nexus following Heath Slater’s recent statement.
Wade Barrett wants to clash with a major name if he returns to in-ring competition in WWE
Though the chances of Wade Barrett’s in-ring return are uncertain, the RAW commentator revealed in an interview that Drew McIntyre would be his preferred opponent if he ever returns to the ring. Drew and Wade share a great bond of friendship, which is often evident on television, where the former Intercontinental Champion often tries to manage The Scottish Warrior's anger.
However, there have been several instances where McIntyre had playfully smacked Wade, something Barrett mentioned he hasn’t forgotten. This is why he considers the Scotsman a conceivable opponent for his in-ring return, as he desires to settle the score.
A match between Wade Barrett and McIntyre would indeed be compelling to watch, as their personal connection would add an intriguing layer to the rivalry.
