Shane McMahon seemingly has left WWE and the world of wrestling behind these days, but during his final stint with the company back in 2022, there were reports of things not ending well between him and his father, Vince McMahon. An incident at the Royal Rumble in late January reportedly created some tension between him and the then-WWE Chairman, Vince.
As a matter of fact, what happened at the premium live event allegedly cost him his place in the company and Shane McMahon was let go shortly after the 2022 Royal Rumble.
Shane was the lead producer for the Men's Royal Rumble Match, where Brock Lesnar emerged victorious and received a title shot at WrestleMania 38. Shane was set to appear late in the match, most likely at No.29, while The Beast Incarnate was a surprise entrant at No.30.
However, it appears that Shane McMahon and his father, Vince, were not on the same page as to how the Rumble match would go down and Shane O-Mac confronted both his father and the other producers before entering the match at No.28.

This chaotic situation led to visible frustration at Shane from his father, as the Men's Royal Rumble Match garnered a lot of negative reactions from fans and people inside the company. This was the last time Shane appeared in a WWE match while Vince was still in charge of creative.
Fast forward to today, there is no one from the McMahon family at the helm of WWE: neither Shane nor Vince or Stephanie McMahon are in charge of the Stamford-based promotion. WWE has been bought by Endeavor and merged with UFC's parent company, Zuffa, to create TKO Group Holdings Inc., with Nick Khan serving as the President and Triple H as the Chief Content Officer.
Shane McMahon confirms meeting with AEW boss Tony Khan
AEW and WWE are the top two wrestling companies today and fans have seen many WWE stars move to AEW and vice versa.
Recently, Shane McMahon met with AEW boss Tony Khan and discussed various topics, according to a statement released by the former WWE boss.
"Tony and I were connected through a mutual friend and we had a great meeting. We talked about many things, but mostly about our shared love for the business and the rewards and challenges of working with family. I congratulated him on the five year anniversary of AEW and look forward to how he evolves the business moving forward," the statement reads, via Fightful.
It is unclear what the future holds for both Shane O-Mac and Tony Khan, but it wouldn't come as a surprise if the fans see the former WWE boss in AEW in the future.
