The WWE Universe hoped to get more insight into who Vince McMahon was through Netflix's docuseries, but the focus was largely on Mr. McMahon, the character he played on WWE TV. On the other hand, the documentary focused on the scandals that were reported about the company, and one such was the 'Ring Boy' scandal.
The scandal began with Mel Philips. He was the ring boss who would bring young boys, primarily teenagers, who were responsible for putting up and taking down the rings at events. The allegation was that the underage boys were being se*ually harassed by WWE officials. The persons named in this were Terry Garvin and Pat Patterson.
Considering this was happening under Vince McMahon's watch, The Big Man's name was dragged through the mud. Journalist, Phil Mushnick claimed McMahon was guilty of "aiding and abetting the ring boy scandal" and "rank neglect." Ultimately, McMahon terminated Mel Philips and Terry Garvin while Pat Patterson resigned.
On the other hand, The Big Man settled with Tim Cole, a former ring boy who worked with the company when he was 16 and had named Garvin and Patterson as the men who had harassed him.
Wrestling veteran revealed what Vince McMahon hated the most about Triple H
Vince McMahon was always about the business. He is arguably the biggest pioneer of the pro-wrestling industry, and future generations will know about him despite his exit from the industry. One of the things that McMahon took pride in was the ideas he came up with for the product and he may have been too protective about whose idea became a success.
Wrestling veteran Jonathan Coachman revealed that Vince McMahon hated that NXT was a huge success, especially since Triple H came up with the idea.
"He hated something new that people liked; that wasn't his idea. Vince hated something working that wasn't his idea. Triple H came up with NXT. And you notice NXT stars would never be pushed. Now what do you see? What did you see tonight on Monday Night RAW? You're seeing NXT stars all over the place. Yeah, that's Triple H. That's his baby. His best friend Shawn Michaels runs NXT. Vince hated that," he said.
Currently, The Game has complete creative control over WWE's products and fans have praised him for the ideas, storylines, and bookings.
