Cody Rhodes is set to put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against AJ Styles in an "I Quit" match at Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event this weekend. This will be Rhodes' first time competing in such a stipulation as he will need to make The Phenomenal One utter the words "I Quit" to retain his title.
AJ Styles, too, has never competed in an "I Quit" match in WWE, but he has had experiences with such matches in other promotions. Styles holds a flawless record of three wins and zero losses in "I Quit" matches and will look to make it four wins at Clash at the Castle 2024.
All three of these wins took place during his time with TNA Wrestling. Styles defeated some high-profile names such as Booker T, Tommy Dreamer, and Christopher Daniels, which means that he walks into his match against Cody Rhodes with all the experience to ensure that he leaves Glasgow, Scotland, as the new champion.
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes wished he had a better relationship with AJ Styles
The rivalry between Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles has escalated over the recent weeks. However, at the same time, both Rhodes and Styles have immense mutual respect for one another.
In a recent interview, The American Nightmare said that he wished he had a better relationship with The Phenomenal One. Rhodes said that he had looked up to Styles throughout his career since he too came from Georgia like him.
"I wish AJ [Styles] and I had a better, you know relationship. You hear the story all the time about how Michael Jordan didn't wanna play Dr. J (Julius Erving), not because he was his hero, because he didn't wanna embarrass him. And that's really what I wanted to say to AJ before we had our first match at Backlash because this was a guy I looked up to coming from Georgia and his whole run, especially what he did overseas with New Japan and everything that made AJ Styles," Cody Rhodes said.
It will be interesting to see which of these two world-class athletes walks out of Clash at the Castle 2024 as the Undisputed WWE Champion.
