Bret Hart's appearance on the season premiere of WWE RAW produced a jaw-dropping moment when his real-life rival Goldberg was mentioned. The Hitman has a deep hatred for the WCW legend. Gunther interrupted Bret's homecoming in-ring promo and mocked him, claiming he was a close second to his all-time favorite wrestler, Goldberg.
Gunther's words shocked fans, given Hart's disdain for his former WCW colleague. The Hitman blames him for ending his career and doesn't think the 57-year-old deserves to be in the WWE Hall of Fame because 'he can't wrestle.'
This alludes to an incident at WCW Starrcade 1999 when Goldberg kicked him in the head. The former recently spoke about the situation and told The Excellence of Execution to 'grow up.'
The former WWE Universal Champion was adamant that the kick was unintentional. He also suggested he wants to bury the hatchet, but that doesn't look likely to happen anytime soon.
Bret Hart didn't respond to Gunther during the promo exchange on WWE RAW. Sami Zayn came out shortly after The Ring General's bombshell was dropped to continue his renewed rivalry with the Austrian.
The Underdog from the Underground tried pushing again for a match against the World Heavyweight Champion for the title. His proposal was declined, and the champ exited, but Hart got into his head and forced him to return for a brawl with Zayn.
Could Triple H be the catalyst for a Bret Hart and Goldberg reconciliation amid WWE RAW comments?
There have been many makeups in WWE that you wouldn't think plausible, including Bret Hart returning to the promotion in 2010. The Canadian icon had spent 13 years away from the Stamford-based company because of the Montreal Screwjob.
Bret shook former longtime rival Shawn Michaels' hand and put the issues of that night behind him. CM Punk, who idolized him, also returned to WWE last November and made amends with Chief Content Officer Triple H.
The Game has created a more positive environment, and talent is happy in the new era. Given that their real-life feud was used on WWE RAW, he could try to get two icons, Hart and Goldberg, to bury their hatchet.
Triple H and Goldberg appear to be on good terms following a frosty period during their in-ring careers. The latter hasn't appeared in the promotion since losing to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in February 2022 while Vince McMahon was still chairman.
