What if Dean Ambrose re-signs with WWE

Black-Ambrose would be a natural story to tell coming out of the Royal Rumble.

Rumor has it that Dean Ambrose was supposed to factor into a major angle in the Royal Rumble match, but WWE pulled back on it downplayed his role with the knowledge he had one foot out of the locker room door.

He suffered a quieter elimination after a modest run in the match, eliminated by NXT star Aleister Black.

There’s a tradition of major stars getting eliminated from the Rumble by unlikely parties, and that setting up a program to follow. Ambrose vs. Black would be a fair enough pairing to use once Black gets called up, booking two guys who are comparably over and well respected by hardcore fans into an angle.

Holding his own with, let alone beating Ambrose would be a nice way of establishing Black as a contender early on. Perhaps all the more likely, if Ambrose were to stick around, beating the newcomer, would help re-establish him as a threat to the Universal Championship.
