But got eliminated in the first round of the tournament by Lince Dorado. Ali made a constant appearance on multiple brands within WWE including NXT, 205, and Raw. Ali then got a chance to debut in 205 Live, which is an exclusive division of WWE for Cruiserweight. He also appeared on the main roster simultaneously. He had multiple pursuits to capture the Cruiserweight but all his efforts ended in vain.

Ali then participated in the Royal Rumble Match and lasted for almost 30 minutes. He was scheduled for the Elimination Chamber match but was ruled out due to legit injury, where Kofi replaced him. Ali was then added to the Money in the Bank match and came short from grabbing the briefcase, as Brock Lesnar made a surprise entry and stole the spotlight.
During the COVID phase, Ali turned heel and headed a stable named Retribution. He had multiple feuds against The Hurt Business and The New Day. Ali dropped the stable and love-hate relationship with Mansoor. He was away from WWE for a while and requested a release, as Vince regretted he made a compromise and made his return. He is now the No.1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship to face Gunther at the Night of Champions at Saudi Arabia.
