CM Punk made arguably the biggest return in WWE history at Survivor Series last November. The Best in the World spent nearly 10 years away from the Stamford-based promotion after an acrimonious departure in 2014. He signed on the dotted line on the night of his return at Allstate Arena in his hometown of Chicago.
PWInsider reports that CM Punk signed a three-year deal when he returned to the PLE. That deal is set to expire in November 2026, disregarding the time spent rehabbing a torn triceps injury suffered at the 2024 Royal Rumble.
CM Punk, 45, has been loving life since returning and has become a popular figure backstage. He's been seen backstage at NXT constantly, helping the younger generation on their route to superstardom.
The Voice of the Voiceless could further extend his stay as talks have started between the parties about a renewal. The promotion approached the former WWE Champion about discussing a new deal.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
CM Punk might have caught wind of the new reports regarding his contract length and talks over an extension. He wrote on his Instagram story on Thursday (July 25):
"I used to rush to defend myself against false accusations but now I watch to see who believes it, so I know who to cut off first." [H/T eWrestlingNews]
Punk is set for his first match since injuring himself in his return match in the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble. He collides with fierce rival Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam and his other foe Seth Rollins, appointed as the special guest referee.
CM Punk came back 'home' when he returned to WWE at Survivor Series
CM Punk insisted WWE was his home when he returned to the company last year.
His first promo back on Monday Night RAW was polarizing, with fans questioning the legitimacy of his claims, such as that he'd changed.
The Straight Edge superstar constantly jabbed at the promotion while away for almost a decade. He mocked WWE while in AEW and continually highlighted his bad situation when he was fired in 2014.
However, Punk was a massive hit during his first run in the company when singing from the same hymn sheet as former chairman Vince McMahon. He is the seventh-longest reigning WWE Champion in history.
Punk is now a veteran and enjoys helping out younger talent while still being one of the must-see stars in wrestling. His feud with Drew McIntyre has arguably been one of the best of his career, and they haven't even fought yet.
