The latest episode of WWE SmackDown is now in the books and it featured a brutal finale. The Bloodline came out to cut a promo and things quickly escalated with the arrival of Cody Rhodes.
The American Nightmare knew what Solo Sikoa wanted: a match at SummerSlam 2024. He accepted, but Cody was then attacked by Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Solo himself. Thankfully, Randy Orton showed up and attempted to clear the house proving he had Cody's back...or does he?
There is a very real chance that Randy Orton is not working with the current Undisputed WWE Champion as so many people believe. Instead, it may have been The Viper himself who was behind The Bloodline's attack on Friday Night SmackDown.
Orton is a sinister and sadistic superstar who is known to go to extreme lengths to get what he wants. In this case, The Viper likely wants the Undisputed WWE Championship based on how often he stares at Cody Rhodes' coveted title.
As a result, he may have decided to work with the new-look Bloodline to throw Cody off his game and get into The American Nightmare's head. In fact, this could even have been done to help Solo win the title in exchange for a guaranteed championship opportunity for The Legend Killer. Orton may have set this entire ordeal up, taking a beating only for securing the gold in the future.
Randy Orton foreshadowed a heel turn on WWE SmackDown
Whether Randy Orton is working with The Bloodline or not remains to be seen, but regardless of the vicious attack from Jacob Fatu, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa, Orton may become a villain. He even teased it on SmackDown as well.
Some WWE fans may have missed it, but when Cody Rhodes and Orton had a segment together backstage, there were a few interesting moments. For starters, Randy was very much focused on the title belt sitting between them.
Beyond that, Orton noted that when Cody finishes up with The Bloodline, a lot of men will be looking to win the coveted belt. Randy even said he would have Cody's back, but the tone felt insincere at best and foreboding at worst.
It is quite likely that The Viper will turn against The American Nightmare once The Bloodline business is behind them. From there, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes will have what is sure to be an epic clash over the Undisputed WWE Championship.
