Vince McMahon, WWE's former Chairman, has been a part of investigations conducted by various government agencies in the past few years. One such agency investigating the former head-honcho of the Stamford-based company was the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
However, in a recent statement from McMahon, he revealed that he had settled the case with the SEC. On his social media handles, the 79-year-old spoke in detail about the settlement and mentioned he was thrilled to put this incident behind him.
"The case is closed. Today ends nearly three years of investigation by different government agencies. There has been a great deal of speculation about what exactly the government was was investigating and what the outcome would be. As today's resolution shows, much of that was speculation and misleading. In the end, there was never anything more to this than minor accounting errors with regards to some personal payments that i made several years ago while I was CEO of WWE. I'm thrilled that I can now put all this behind me," McMahon mentioned in his statement.

If reports are to be believed, as a result of this likely settlement, McMahon will have to pay the SEC $400,000 in damages. He will also have to reimburse $1.4 million to WWE. However, it's worth noting that in this entire scenario, the former boss of the Stamford-based promotion hasn't admitted or denied the findings of the Government agency.
Ex-WWE employee spoke about his interaction with Vince McMahon before leaving the promotion
During Vince McMahon's time as WWE Chairman, several superstars and talent joined the promotion and even left later. One such WWE name who left mid-way was Vince Russo. It's worth noting that back in the 90s, Russo was the head of the writing department in the Stamford-based promotion.
However, in 1999 he decided to part ways with the promotion. During a recent episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo, the veteran wrestling figure spoke about his exit from WWE and even detailed his last words to then-boss Vince McMahon.
"The numbers are there if anybody wants to look at them. I left the company in September of 1999. And my exact words to Vince [Vince McMahon] were, 'You have a year to ride the wave. Vince, everything is in place, you can run it on autopilot for the next year.' So that was September of '99. Guys, go look what happened in September 2000. So for him to say 'Oh yeah, bro, we were wildly successful without him.' That's why I am not gonna argue with these marks, bro, because the numbers are out there," said Russo. [5:30 onwards]
