It has been a few months since Vince McMahon left WWE after a former employee, Janel Grant, accused him of sexual abuse and trafficking. With a federal investigation reportedly underway amid Grant's lawsuit against McMahon, it appears that the former chairman has left the company for good after 42 years.
According to a report by NBC News, Vince McMahon continues to live a normal life, and the legal issues he is currently dealing with have not affected him. Per wrestling insiders, he travels the world and goes out to eat with friends. Still, he has had no relationship with WWE since his departure.
"Vince McMahon doesn’t work for the company, doesn’t come into the office, and he’s not coming back to the company," said Mark Shapiro, Chief Operating Officer of TKO, via NBC News.
The report also says that McMahon is in touch with fellow businessman and former US President Donald Trump, who will be running for a second term as president in November. Still, Vince McMahon's attorneys have denied such claims.
"Mr. McMahon has not been ‘staying in touch’ or ‘been in touch regularly’ with former President Trump. He has spoken with Mr. Trump once in the past several years and that was for about a minute or so after Mr. McMahon’s back surgery. Other than that, there have been no communications between the two," a spokesperson told NBC News.
It remains unclear when the federal investigation will be completed, but Janel Grant's attorneys have ruled out the possibility of a settlement.
WWE moving to new era after Vince McMahon's departure
Since Vince McMahon's departure, WWE has continued to distance itself from the former chairman and has made it clear that the company is moving into a new era.
This became quite obvious during the weeks prior to WrestleMania 40 and amid the two-day premium live event itself, when the company actively promoted the new era under Paul "Triple H" Levesque.
"Every Wrestlemania is special for its own reason, but I think WrestleMania 40 might be the one I’m most proud of, because this is the first WrestleMania of the Paul Levesque era," Stephanie McMahon said on Night 2 of WrestleMania 40, via NBC News.
What is also obvious is that fans have been excited about this new WWE era and the storylines that have been created, with Triple H getting high praise for how he has been handling things.
