During her time in WWE, AJ Lee emerged as one of the top female wrestlers, becoming Divas Champion three times. Aside from her singles run, she once got involved in a romantic storyline with CM Punk, and Daniel Bryan.
Amid her on-screen romance with both megastars, AJ Lee was appointed as the Special Guest Referee for the WWE Championship Match between CM Punk and Daniel Bryan at Money in the Bank back in July 2012.
Heading to the match, the former Divas Champion had an in-ring segment with Punk and Bryan on the July 3, 2012, episode of SmackDown. The five-time WWE World Champion revealed his feelings for AJ Lee, while Punk told her that she needed professional help to deal with her mental issues.
AJ, who at the time played a mentally unstable persona, first kissed Daniel Bryan and did the same with CM Punk once the latter left the ring. Her move left both megastars stunned.
Two weeks later, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan collided in the title match, with the Best in the World eventually defeating his opponent in a No Disqualifications Match.
CM Punk says AJ Lee would be open to discussing a WWE return
AJ Lee retired from WWE back in 2015 following a dominant run in the women's division. Her husband, CM Punk, had left WWE in 2014 and it took him nine years to come back to the company.
Since returning to WWE a year ago, the Best in the Work hasn't ruled out a return of his wife, with AJ being open to discussing a comeback.
"I certainly am not pushing her to do anything. I think she knows that there's options. I think she sees how happy I am and how things are different. But if the right situation presented itself, it would have to be a discussion between her and certain people, and I don’t necessarily want to be in the middle of that just because it could get kind of weird. Selfishly, yes, I would love to make out with my wife on television again," CM Punk said in an interview with Ringside Collectibles, via Sportskeeda.
AJ Lee has been referenced by Drew McIntyre in his rivalry with CM Punk, and she could show up at Bad Blood this Saturday, October 5, and interfere in the match to help her husband win.
An appearance at Bad Blood would certainly fuel reports on a WWE comeback in the future.
