When Bray Wyatt fought John Cena in a rare WWE match featuring top star

Bray Wyatt and John Cena faced each other multiple times in WWE throughout the years, twice in WrestleMania. As two of the top stars in the industry, many are aware of their matches. However, there may be an exception.

The rare match questioned above is a WWE SmackDown dark bout in 2017. After the January 1, 2017, episode of the blue brand, John Cena teamed up with American Alpha's Chad Gable and Jason Jordan against Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper (AKA Brodie Lee), and Randy Orton. Wyatt and Cena had other memorable one-on-one matches as well. Their first significant singles match against each other was on WrestleMania 30 in 2014, wherein the latter picked up the victory.

Their second match at The Grandest Stage of Them All was six years later at WrestleMania 36 was completely different. It was a Firefly Fun House bout, and Cena did not fight Wyatt, but The Fiend. The latter's mind games eventually paid off by capturing the victory.

The wrestling world was shocked when it was announced that The Eater of Worlds passed away on August 24, 2023. His fans, friends, and family posted tributes to honor Wyatt and Windham Rotunda.

Although the 16-time World Champion and the former Universal Champion spend most of their on-screen moments as opponents, it was a different case backstage. The Peacemaker actor sent his condolences to the Rotunda family and sent an emotional message to Bray Wyatt.

"Devastated by the news of the passing of Windham Rotunda. My heart goes out to the entire Rotunda family. Windham brought the best out of me in so many ways. I’m forever grateful for the moments we shared. A sad day for all those he reached around the world. RIP," Cena tweeted.

The Cenation Leader is set to kick off his WWE SmackDown return this Friday at Hershey, Pennsylvania. While he could be confronted by several stars to possibly set up a feud, he also has another agenda. As per reports, he will pay tribute to his former rival, and fans should expect an emotional episode.

Bray Wyatt has certainly left a mark on everybody's life, whether that may be personal or professional. Although he is gone, it's fortunate to see him share the ring with somebody like John.
