Cody Rhodes finished his story at WrestleMania XL by winning the Undisputed WWE Championship. The American Nightmare has assumed the role of WWE's top face and he'll soon be headed to Hollywood. He's been cast in the upcoming Naked Gun reboot, per The Daily Mail
The Undisputed WWE Champion will reportedly feature in the movie alongside Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson. He's set to make a cameo appearance which may see him play himself, however, his role is rumored to be an important one. The Naked Gun reboot's theatre release is set for July 18, 2025, and is directed and produced by Avika Schaffer.
Cody Rhodes, 38, wowed fans with his captivating on-screen performances for several months on the Road to 'Mania XL. Emotional promos about dedicating his win to his late father Dusty Rhodes resonated with fans. So he won't be entering uncharted waters as he's previously taken up acting roles in Warehouse 13, the superhero TV show Arrow, and a few others.
The Naked Gun reboot's release date means fans will have plenty of time to enjoy Rhodes' world title reign. His first defense of the Undisputed WWE Championship is set to take place at Backlash France against AJ Styles on May 4.
Cody Rhodes's sister revealed he considered leaving wrestling for acting years ago
Cody Rhodes made a blockbuster return to WWE in 2022 when he appeared at WrestleMania 38. He's since become a bonafide megastar for the Stamford-based company but it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows during his first spell with WWE.
The two-time Royal Rumble winner failed to win over the higher-ups. He went through several characters such as The Dashing One and Stardust to try and get himself into the main event picture.
Cody Rhodes left WWE in 2016 and worked on rebuilding himself on the independent scene. This led to him starting up AEW where he was a chief executive before returning to his initial wrestling home.
The American Nightmare's sister Teil revealed to Wrestle Binge last year how close her brother was to swapping pro wrestling for the acting business.
"Yeah. He thought, ‘If I could leave, maybe I could get into TV. I could get into acting.’ But Cody, the business is really his life. He loves it so much, and that’s when he went on that incredible indie run where he made his list and, obviously, left WWE. Every step he took kind of brought us to where we are now," she said. Cody Rhodes ultimately decided to remain a pro wrestler, which turned out to be a wise decision. He still has acting opportunities, as shown by his upcoming role in the Naked Gun reboot.
