When did Triple H become WWE COO?

Last Modified Oct 25, 2023 10:38 GMT

Triple H (real name - Paul Michael Levesque) is an American businessman and former professional wrestler. Born on July 27, 1969, The King of Kings is regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time for the work he has done in WWE.

He began his pro-wrestling career in 1990 at Killer Kowalski’s school and made his debut two years later at Kowalski’s promotion International Wrestling Federation. In 1994, he was signed by WCW where he worked under the name of Terra Ryzing, and then Jean-Paul Levesque. In early 1995, he joined WWF and started working there under the ring name Hunter Hearst Helmsley, a snobby gentleman.

As the Attitude Era rolled in, he shortened his name to HHH or simply Triple H. He also was a founding member and leader of D-Generation X, one of the most iconic wrestling stables of all time. During the Attitude Era, Triple H became one of the biggest wrestlers in the world, a legacy that he carried throughout the rest of his career.

Triple H was a workhorse for the company for the next decade. He started taking on managerial roles for the company in the early 2010s but worked as a pro-wrestler alongside. However, his time as a wrestler was greatly reduced in comparison to his managerial duties both in-ring and backstage. In 2022, Triple H eventually retired from in-ring action, while completely focusing on his duties for WWE as an official.

Is Triple H the COO of WWE?

On the July 18, 2011 episode of Monday Night RAW, during the heat of rivalry between John Cena and CM Punk, Triple H came out to address Vince McMahon. He informed McMahon that he was relieved of his duties and that Triple H would now work as the COO (Chief Operating Officer) of WWE.

As the COO, he brought CM Punk back to the company and eventually put his position of COO on the line against Punk and won. However, the on-screen staff gave Triple H a no-confidence bringing McMahon back to power. The Cerebral Assassin, however, remained the COO of the company, a position he still holds.

On the second night of WrestleMania 38 (2022), Triple H came to WWE for the first time since announcing his retirement. There, he addressed the WWE Universe as the COO of the company, signifying that he had now moved to full-time work for the betterment of the company as an official.

Other Duties of Triple H in WWE

Triple H first became an Executive Senior Advisor at WWE in 2010. He was then named the Executive Vice President, of Talent and Live Events the next year. During the pandemic, in 2020, Triple H became the company’s EVP of Global Talent Strategy and Development.

Upon Vince McMahon’s retirement in 2022, Triple H assumed a number of major duties. In July 2022, he was announced as the EVP of Talent Relations. Upon the retirement of Vince McMahon, he assumed the duties as Head of WWE Creative, which effectively makes him the man behind WWE programming.

In September, he was elevated to the Chief Content Officer of the company.
